Start

Set an early alarm and pack breakfast items that travel well—croissants, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, coffee in a thermos. Check the sunrise time.

Then

Hike to a viewpoint or summit, arriving 15 minutes before sunrise. Find a good spot to sit and watch the sky change colors in silence.

End

Unpack breakfast as the sun rises and toast with coffee to new beginnings. Hike down leisurely and nap together in the afternoon.
